Treatment plan in Tokyo (Updated)

Me, my wife and children arrived in Tokyo and tomorrow we visited the National Cancer Center in Chiba/Tokyo. The hospital is 15 minutes by bus from Kashiwa station, and it's near Tokyo University. We have the opportunity to combine this visit with some pleasure travel to our favorite place in Izu and enjoy the hotspring, the budding cherry blossom and great sushi!

Today we met with Dr Zenda who was very friendly and his English was good although he refused to speak it at first. He had worked and practiced in Holland he said!

• The proton beaming treatment will be based on the findings of the PET-CT scan of the whole body planned on 28-March and an MRI scan of the head, planned on 31-Mar. 
• If the PET scan identifies spreading of cancerous activity, we will need follow-up drug treatment. The MRI shows details of soft tissues based various types of magnetic resonance during the 1 hour scanning.
• A mask will be made to assure accuracy during beaming and simulation will be done in 3D after 31-March until the first treatment session.
• A series of 5 treatment sessions is possible then on 5, 7, 10, 12 and 13 April. This depends on the findings in the scans. If nothing is found the sessions will not take place and we will have to wait for the 3 monthly follow-up scans.
• Each session lasts for 15 minutes including a 30 seconds beam with 5mm accuracy. There is no sensation like pain, light, heat, sound or anything.
• Side effects may start with the 5th session including red skin (dermatitis) due to the heat and 10% chance of headache. Since there are only 5 sessions the doctor doesn't expect any immediate side effects.
• Late side effects due to toxicity may appear after 3-4 years: maximum 14% visual acuity reduction in left eyesight and 1% chance of local brain necrosis (like trembling hands) which may happen also due to normal aging. 
• A review session with the doctor is planned on 19 April to check side the effects and plan the follow up.
• This type of radiation only affects limited area around the sinus and nose unlike electron radiation, which is much less accurate.

The doctor said we are so lucky to find it so early compared to all his other patients.
Anyway it's a 1 in a million chance to get this, and most patients need more than 30 sessions due to the size of the tumor. We saw photo's of the skin burns in another patient which was still not so bad and had healed fast. Compare that to normal radio side effects near the eye.....

The first year after treatment I have to visit the hospital every 3 months for an MRI scan to monitor progress. The second year it's every 4 months, the 3rd year every 6 months, the 4th year only once and then it's status 'cured'. I will be 62 by then.
We will move our home to Japan in June/July, so the follow up checkups at the same clinic are convenient for us.

As with results of immunotherapy drug treatments in the US, one is never sure on the success ratio of treatments. The latest drug treatments in the USA shows 20% success rate, whereas proton beaming in Japan reports 60-70% success rate. The common trend is that the tumors are completely obliterated and the body can clean itself up in the 6 months following the treatment. Post-treatment images show remarkable clean tissue.

GcMAF protein

My sister Tinelies wrote to me if I had heard about this.
Together with vitamin D this GcMAF would help the immune system of the body to fight tumor.
So I googled it and after several sites found this site best explained the workings:

"The 'drug' reverses not only cancer, but autism, autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, kidney disease, HIV and other chronic illnesses as wel. 

It is entirely natural and is composed of a special protein molecule combined with an unsaturated fatty acid (oleic acid) and vitamin D. When reading on, the FDA doesn't approve of it and thus it's not available for treatments in the US. It is used for therapy in Europe. 

Such natural 'drugs' are what we will add to our arsenal of weapons to fight growth of cancerous cells through healthy lifestyle, diet and other holistic treatments.
